Rather than being designed to the demands of aerodynamics, the GT-R® sculpts the air to its needs – becoming a force of nature as much as a force to be reckoned with.
EXTERIOR DESIGN Fanatical attention to detail. On GT-R®'s finished in Super Silver, a craftsman uses both hands and eyes to inspect the body of the GT-R®. To bring out any imperfections, three different lighting sources – fluorescent, halogen and diluted flood lighting – are used to see various types of qualities in the paint as if it were at night, daylight or simply under intense scrutiny.
PRECISION-BUILT Vibration testing, laser measurements, and comprehensive inspections by experienced specialists are performed on every Nissan GT-R® to ensure long-term functionality.
MULTI-LED HEADLIGHTS The headlights feature four LED units to create an extremely natural light, replicating daylight, while also offering increased illumination. The super-wide-beam headlights expand the area of illumination toward the sides of the car, enhancing visibility, especially when cornering.
ICONIC TAILLIGHT The Nissan GT-R® Taillights have true iconic status. The are synonymous with Nissan GT-R®, if only for the fact that people are used to seeing them as you leave them in the dust.
A tradition of craftsmanship makes the GT-R® a supercar that will take your breath away – even when sitting still.
Enhancing the way you get information lets you focus on what matters most – the pure enjoyment of the drive.
The Display Commander lets you dial in your world, allowing you to control key functions through GT-R®'s multi-touch screen [*]. By rotating the dial, or pushing it to the left or right, you can scroll through all menus, and move selections around the screen.
The combination meter uses meshing gears as its motif. The tachometer is placed in the centre, with the large-scale gear indicator on the upper right, supporting the driver with immediate readability when driving on the circuit.
Carefully crafting each part, thinking of the mind, body, and spirit of the customers who will use their products – that is the spirit of the Takumi, a part Japanese tradition. And that is the human soul in the Nissan GT-R®, a supercar that could never be created in a factory that only pursues rationality.
Nissan challenged convention at every point of the
Nissan GT-R®'s development. Instead of a large, heavy engine thirsty for fuel, the Nissan GT-R® is powered by an ideally sized, twin-turbocharged 3.8-L V6 that produces a prodigious 565 hp and equally immense 467 lb.-ft of torque. Just as important as the engineering is the actual assembly, which is done by hand by a single master craftsman, whose signature you’ll find on a small, but prominent, plaque.
The cylinder block features a closed deck for strength. For increased strength, a ladder frame structure was also adopted to give the crankshaft added support, important with the engine’s massive torque. Magnesium alloy was selected for the oil pan and rocker cover for its light weight and strength.
It Shifts The World Of Transmissions In Just 0.15 Seconds
The longer a shift takes, the less time power is being put to the ground. So for maximum acceleration, the GT-R®'s paddle-shifted 6-speed sequential dual-clutch transmission can snap off lightning-quick gear changes in just 0.15 seconds when in
R-Mode – almost as quickly as you can blink.
Dry Sump Lubrication System To ensure stable lubrication for the transmission even when cornering at high Gs, a dry sump lubrication system is employed. The system sprays transmission oil directly onto the gears, reducing friction and increasing reliability.
Two Clutches. No Clutch Pedal. The Nissan GT-R's 6-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts incredibly quick. How? Inside the transmission, there are separate clutches for the odd (1st, 3rd, 5th) and even (2nd, 4th, 6th) gears. When the car is in an odd-numbered gear, the adjacent even numbered gear is “pre-selected” – ready to make the shift immediately. The transmission is so smart, it even “blips” the throttle on downshifts to match rpm. So even though your left leg may not get much exercise, you’ll have tremendous fun shifting the GT-R®.
Multi-Material Body Structure The GT-R®'s body gets maximum strength from Carbon Aluminum Die-cast Steel, a combination of carbon fiber, die-cast aluminum and steel. For structural rigidity, aluminum die-cast door inner panels are employed to decrease the amount of deformation during a crash. Die-cast aluminum is also used for the front strut housing and in the front suspension. For added structural rigidity, the suspension’s strut tower bar is made of lightweight carbon composite containing aluminum honeycomb.
