A NEW CLASS OF POWER
310 HP WITH 555 LB-FT OF TORQUE
The all-new Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel[*] is the heart of the next-gen TITAN XD. This beast of an engine brings heavy-duty performance and torque to half-ton pickup territory, and does it with better fuel economy than its gasoline counterparts.
A NEW CLASS OF PULL
WITH ALL THAT POWER COMES GREAT TOWING
Dropping a Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine in a half-ton creates enormous towing power[*]. If you’re going to use all that power, you’re going to need the stability provided by a gooseneck hitch[*], so we engineered one right into the frame. In early trials held in sweltering Arizona (testing ground for the new SAE J2807 towing standard), we pulled more than 4.5 metric tons (5 imperial tons), and the TITAN XD performed with total confidence.
TOWING MADE EASY
With the TITAN XD, we made towing secure and much simpler. We cut a multi-step process down to a few easy moves with key technologies designed to help make towing secure and hassle-free. In fact it’s so easy, we made it a job for one. No more asking the family to help check. No more second-guessing or triplechecking. A few quick steps and you’re on the road.
Trailer Light Check
Checking your trailer lights just got a whole lot easier. With TITAN’s unique technology, in one step it can help you ensure all your lights are functioning before you hit the road. Three clicks of your Nissan Intelligent Key® (lock, lock - hold lock) initiates a sequence that helps you check the turn, brake and running lights.
with Adaptive Guidelines
Hitch-free hitching. We cut out the guesswork and made aligning the trailer a onestep process. From the driver’s seat, see what’s directly behind you on the available 7” high-res LCD navigation display screen, and use the blue center guideline to align with your trailer. For 2016, we reduced the length of the guideline – a small change that makes a big difference when viewing the connection between your TITAN and trailer.
Integrated Brake Controller
Control when you need it. The Integrated Brake Controller links the brakes on your TITAN with your trailer brakes if you have a 7 Pin Harness Connector, meaning that when you apply the brakes, a signal is sent to your trailer to do the same. The controller can also be applied manually when you need it. On the 2016 TITAN, we repositioned the Integrated Brake Controller to the right of the steering column on the centre stack for easier, intuitive access.
Downhill Speed Control
and Tow/Haul Mode[*]
Towing a heavy load? Up your confidence, even going downhill. When Tow/Haul Mode is engaged, Downhill Speed Control is engaged too, helping you to slow and stay in control when you need it most. A simple tap of the brakes automatically downshifts allowing you to maintain your momentum without extended braking. While some competitors downshift based on speed, TITAN waits until you engage the brakes, keeping control where it belongs — with you. The result is less shift-hunting, better performance, and a real sense of confidence – especially important when towing heavy loads.
Trailer Sway Control
Keep it in line. When your TITAN senses sway, the Vehicle Dynamic Control[*] will automatically apply the brakes on one side of your vehicle. If that’s not enough, a simple tap of the brakes engages Trailer Sway Control, automatically applying the trailer brakes, and keeping you focused on the road ahead. Plus, the 4 and 7 Pin Trailer Connector makes connecting hassle-free.[*] No more converting pin-sizes, no extra wiring, no aftermarket parts to buy. With the connector located on the bumper, everything you need is within hand-reach.
Extendable Tow Mirrors
with Around View® Monitor[*]
Keep perspective. Clever engineering ensures that when you extend your TITAN’s Tow Mirrors, the Around View® camera remains in the same spot. This means your view won’t change and your perspective won’t warp. Thank us when you’re on that boat ramp.
A NEW CLASS OF TOUGH
GO BIG OR GO HOME
We needed a bigger, burlier chassis to handle TITAN XD’s expanded towing and payload potential, so we looked at the battle-tested chassis of the Nissan Commercial Vehicle as a jumping off point. From there we engineered a new frame and chassis and reinforced them with some seriously substantial components. [*]
To improve handling and ride comfort, we designed a new heavy-duty suspension for the 2016 TITAN XD. The double wishbone front suspension was reinforced and tuned, and the back end got a lot more rigid thanks to bigger leaf springs and overhauled leaf bushings.
We bolted 14 inches (355.6 mm) of ventilated, hydraulically boosted stopping power onto all four of the TITAN XD’s big wheels. They’ll stop your truck, but they’ll never slow down the job. With brakes like these, you’ll always want to be buckled up.
AISIN 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION
To handle the raw power pounding out of the Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine, we backed it with a heavy-duty 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission[*]. Sure, it might seem like overkill for a light-duty pick up, but the TITAN XD isn’t exactly “light-duty”.
TOUGH NEW TRANSFER CASE
We strapped a rugged new transfer case on to ensure maximum power distribution in every gear. It pushes torque to both axles, and gives you four-wheel drive[*] whenever you need added traction on snow, ice, sand, mud, muck, dirt, water, gravel… whatever the job site can throw at you.
HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL FRAME
With TITAN XD’s imposing towing and payload stats, this is a truck that needs one hell of a backbone, so we gave it a larger high-strength steel, fully boxed, full-length ladder frame. Every component has been bolstered and strengthened for added stiffness, vertical and lateral bending, as well as torsional rigidity.
NEW AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL
We’ve swapped out the rear end for a bigger, tougher purpose-built axle from the folks over at American Axle Manufacturing (AAM). This vital component has been proving itself for years in the workhorse lineup of Nissan Commercial vehicles, and it’ll have you towing[*], tugging, winching, and pulling pretty much anything you need to tow, tug, winch, or pull.
INTEGRATED GOOSENECK HITCH
There is no better way to say “this thing means business” than putting a gooseneck hitch in the bed of a truck. Even more so when that gooseneck hitch is built into the frame. This gooseneck can handle serious business, and the hitch ball is removable so you can just pull it out when you need a flat bed. [*]
PLATINUM RESERVE INTERIOR
THE EXECUTIVE SUITE
BRAWN FOR THE BIG SHOT
The new class of power meets master craftsmanship in TITAN XD’s ultra-comfortable, premium interior. We’ve relocated the shifter to the steering column, making more room for a massive center console and for more overall space in an already spacious interior. Carefully considered storage features and power sources are placed throughout the cabin. Advanced connective technology helps keep you in touch, while supportive, leather-appointed front seats provide exceptional long-haul comfort.
NISSAN INTELLIGENT KEY®
WITH PUSH BUTTON START
The Nissan Intelligent Key® lets you unlock your truck by tapping a button on the door handle, while your keys stay in your pocket. When TITAN XD detects the key in the vehicle, all you have to do is push the start button and go. [*]
The centrally-located, full-color 7-inch NissanConnect℠ display serves up a number of handy navigation, entertainment, and communication features. It also doubles as an Around View Monitor® that helps you maneuver into tight spots, or hook-up and park your trailer with ease. [*]
ADVANCED DRIVE ASSIST®
The high-res 5-inch screen puts useful driving info and customizable maintenance reminders right up front in the gauge cluster so the driver’s eyes can stay where they need to be—on the road. [*]
RELOCATED SHIFT KNOB
TITAN XD's Platinum Reserve interior features a two-toned leather-wrapped shift knob accented by a dark chrome trim finish. The shifter's been moved to the steering column, for extra room in the center console. [*]
The massive leather-appointed center console—complete with a Platinum Reserve logo—is deep enough to store a 15-inch laptop, and features a side pocket that's perfect for tablet storage. With a 120-volt outlet at the back of the console, you'll be able to charge all these electronics while they're safely stowed away. [*]
An integrated Trailer Brake Controller is conveniently mounted on the center dash for those times when you need extra stopping power when towing, or when you simply want to test your trailer brakes before taking off for a mountain weekend getaway. [*]
The instrument panel is detailed with wood-toned accents, a soft-touch dash, and a dark chrome finish along the side and center vents. Ergonomic knobs are larger and deeply grooved so they are easy to use even with work gloves on. [*]
The premium grade two-toned leather-appointed seats feature a unique quilted stitching pattern, and distinctive Platinum Reserve badging on seat backs. [*]
ZERO GRAVITY FRONT
Sink into TITAN XD's encompassing zero gravity front captain's chairs and feel almost instantly relaxed and comfortable. The seats were designed to recreate a neutral pose, helping to reduce fatigue. [*]
TITAN XD's rear seats can be folded down or flipped up, revealing impressive cargo storage and workspace versatility. [*]
Diesel engines typically take longer to heat up, but there's nothing typical about the TITAN XD. To beat the cold, we've added a standard, supplemental cabin heater that warms up the cabin faster than you would expect. [*]
HEATED SEATS AND
Old Man Winter never saw this one coming. A heated steering wheel along with heated seats, both up front and in back, will keep you and your passengers toasty even on the coldest days. [*]
With TITAN XD's impressive number of cup holders—some large enough to hold 32-ounce bottles—staying hydrated while you're on duty won't be a problem. In fact, with a total of six up front and eight in back, the whole crew can stay hydrated. [*]
COOLED FRONT SEATS
TITAN XD's leather-appointed front seats feature a built-in ventilation system that saves you from stickiness by cooling down when it’s hot out. [*]

To celebrate the reveal of the next-generation TITAN, Nissan will be telling the story of its upcoming full-size pickup’s development via a series of short videos under the “Nissan TITAN Truckumentary” banner.
Nissan’s history in pickup trucks is much deeper than many realize. Here’s a glimpse at our storied roots in trucking.
Nissan is featuring Rich Miller, Director of Product Planning and TITAN Chief Product Specialist, exploring his 20-plus year history working for Nissan and detailing his rural roots and upbringing in which pickup trucks featured prominently.
Diane Allen, Senior Design Manager at Nissan Design America (NDA), is featured in “Sketch Pad,” the third chapter of Nissan’s “TITAN Truckumentary.” Allen and her team are responsible for the design of the recently revealed 2016 Nissan TITAN XD.
The fourth chapter of Nissan's "TITAN Truckumentary" focuses on early durability testing that the company's next-generation full-size pickup has been undergoing the past few months.
Heart of Cold
Contrasting the clinical procedures and mild climates seen in Chapter 4 of Nissan "TITAN Truckumentary," the latest episode of this behind-the-scenes truck development series tracks engineers performing cold weather testing on the next-generation TITAN.
The sixth chapter of Nissan’s “TITAN TRUCKUMENTARY” delves into the relationship between Nissan and Cummins, Inc., the storied engine manufacturer that has played a pivotal role in bringing the 2016 TITAN XD to life.
Nissan Titan owners are a passionate bunch, and with the next-generation TITAN XD on its way, the ownership base is only getting more excited. The Nissan "TITAN Truckumentary" continues with Chapter 7, titled "Truck Love" – which was filmed in part at the 8th Annual Texas Nissan Truck Meet as well as the first public unveilings of the 2016 TITAN XD earlier in the year at a number of Southern California locations.
The Sound of Silence
Noise, Vibration and Harshness, or “NVH,” has become a bigger selling point for pickups in recent years, as customers used to the quality ride experience and quiet levels of passenger cars now demand a similar performance from their trucks.
Making the Grade
Nissan's Arizona Test Center engineering and R&D proving ground in Stanfield, Arizona has played a crucial role in the development of the all-new 2016 Nissan TITAN XD. The ninth "TITAN Truckumentary" episode chronicles a day in the life of Nissan's Durability team as it runs the TITAN XD PRO-4X on the grades of Montana Mountain.
