Pathfinder's new CVT eliminates gears by using a precisely machined metal belt instead of traditional fixed metal gears, which transfers power from the engine to the wheels far more effectively and smoothly. So whatever you ask from the engine, the CVT provides it by shifting seamlessly to give you the perfect speed, all while improving fuel economy.

Class-exclusive selectable 2WD, 4WD, and Auto Mode
No other SUV3 in this class gives you the choice of 2WD, 4WD, and Auto Modes. Turn the convenient All-Mode Knob, located just behind the gearshift in the centre console, and lock into 4WD to improve traction on rough terrain and roads and in varying weather conditions. Turn the knob again to switch into 2WD for better mileage. When you are in the intuitive Auto Mode, the system senses slippery roads, rough terrain, or anything else you come across, and automatically adjusts power to each wheel to meet the situation. When things smooth out, it switches back to 2WD. You won’t even notice it happen.

3rd-row seating has been upgraded and expanded in the Pathfinder. It's the only SUV in its class3 to offer 3rd-row reclining seats, and they are spacious enough to comfortably seat two full size adult passengers. Fold down both the 50/50 split 3rd-row seats and you've got plenty of space and the versatility to carry all kinds of cargo.

    Fill it up with seven passengers, and the Pathfinder still has room for up to 16 cubic feet of cargo. Drop the third row and you’ve got more than 47 cubic feet, or drop both the 2nd- and 3rd- rows and you’ve got a virtually flat space with 79.8 cubic feet of cargo for your seriously big loads. There's also a large under-floor storage area that keeps valuables out of sight. It’s easily accessed whether the 3rd row is folded or upright, giving added cargo room even when you have seven passengers along for the ride.11
