Glossary of Terms
Accessories
Accessories are defined as any item installed at an Nissan Dealer and not by the factory. For purposes of lease payments, this amount will be added to the total sales price of the vehicle, but not to the residual value of the car at the end of the financing term. For specific details please see your Nissan Dealer. Some accessories may require installation, which is not included in the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Dealer sets actual price.
ANNUAL KM ALLOWANCE
This is the number of kilometres you are permitted to drive the vehicle during the course of your lease. Our standard lease program allows a maximum 24,000 km/year. An excess kilometre charge will apply should you drive the vehicle beyond the limits set out in your lease agreement.
BI-WEEKLY PAYMENT
Payment due every 14 days (26 pay periods in 12 consecutive months) on a particular day of the week. For example: If first payment is due on a Friday, the next payment will be due after every other Friday or in 14 days.
CASH PURCHASE
Vehicle acquisition without financing. You pay for the vehicle in full at point of purchase.
CASH PURCHASE DISCOUNT
Purchase Cash discount provides customers with non-stackable customer cash discounts for individuals wishing to complete their transaction as a cash deal on eligible vehicles. Purchase Cash discount cannot be used in conjunction with subvented lease or finance programs and is applied as a reduction to the actual selling price before taxes.
DOWN PAYMENT
A payment in cash and/or rebate upon the signing of a loan/lease, which typically reduces the amount financed on a purchase or lease and/or pays for other amounts due upon the signing of a lease.
EFFECTIVE RATE
The 'effective' rate is for informational purposes only and includes the value of certain cash purchase incentives foregone by customers who choose to enter into a finance or lease agreement at a subvented interest rate.
FINANCE DISCOUNT
NCF Finance Cash is applicable to NCF subvented loan contracts only. Applicable to retail customers only. Not combinable with fleet discounts. Discount may also include loyalty cash, dealer participation, and any other special program incentives that are applicable.
FINANCING
Buying your new vehicle by paying only a small down payment up front and the rest in monthly installments. You own the vehicle at the end of a financing contract.
LEASE DISCOUNT
NCF Lease Cash is applicable to NCF subvented lease contracts only. Applicable to retail customers only. Not combinable with fleet discounts. Discount may also include loyalty cash, dealer participation, and any other special program incentives that are applicable.
LEASING
Leasing (or the use of) a motor vehicle for a fixed period of time at an agreed amount of money for the lease. At the end of the lease, the lessee must return the vehicle or can decide to buy it.
PROVINCIAL EV INCENTIVE
Most provinces offer incentive programs to help Canadians switch to an electric vehicle. See what your province has to offer. Amount of actual rebate varies by model of eligible vehicle and term of finance/lease agreement, and is applied to the after-tax value of the vehicle. Certain conditions apply. These additional provincial incentives are not within Nissan's control and are subject to change without notice. Interested parties should confirm the accuracy of the information before relying on it to make a purchase. To obtain more information about this rebate and how it will be applied towards your payments, please contact your Nissan dealer.
RATE
The cost of your credit as a yearly rate. You'll find your rate listed on your lease or finance agreement.
RESIDUAL VALUE
The projected value of a vehicle at the end of a lease. This value is not negotiable. This value will vary according to the lease terms, mileage allowance and the vehicle's make and model. Vehicles that tend to have a high resale value will also have higher residual values, which typically lead to lower lease payments.
SEMI-MONTHLY PAYMENT
Payment due every 15 days (24 pay periods in 12 consecutive months) on a particular day of the month. For example: If first payment is due on the 5th of a month, the next payment will be due on the 20th of the same month or every 15 days.
TAXES
Leases are taxed monthly, rather than in a lump sum as is the case with finance contracts.
TERM
The duration of your loan or lease, usually measured in months (e.g., 48 months).
TOTAL OBLIGATION
This is the total amount owed over the total term of the contract or point of cash purchase, including any down payment made at the dealership.
TRADE-IN VALUE
The net value that your Nissan dealer will credit your current vehicle toward the purchase or lease of another vehicle.
