Engine and Horsepower

Big on brawn

Great adventures start with what’s under the hood. An impressive 284-horsepower V6 engine means Pathfinder has plenty of muscle to haul a full crew and heavy-duty cargo. Its 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters delivers a quick, sporty response any driver can get behind.

Armada ups the ante with a 400-horsepower V8 engine, and an advanced 7-speed automatic transmission. While both Nissan SUVs seat up to eight, the right choice for you may come down to whether you need that extra boost in engine power. [[1904]]

4WD and Off-Roading

Get into the outdoors

Never leave home without four-wheel capability. Pathfinder and Armada both come with Nissan’s Intelligent 4X4 system. It automatically adjusts torque between the front and rear wheels, to help your vehicle stay on track through the twists and turns.

Hop into the Pathfinder and choose from five distinct drive modes for snow, sand and sportier handling. Its rigid chassis isolates the cabin from rugged terrain. Armada’s Snow Mode makes winter driving a breeze, while its raised ground clearance lets you tackle steeper grades.

Towing Capacity

Epic hauling

Play hard with an SUV you can put to work. Pathfinder lets you bring bigger toys with a max towing capacity of 6,000 lbs. That makes hauling a small boat or trailer a breeze. If you’ve got a larger watercraft or camper, Armada has your back with a jaw-dropping 8,500 lbs. of available towing capacity. [[2087]]

Whichever way you go, Nissan SUVs let you breathe easy while you haul thanks to the selectable Tow Mode, which helps keep things stable.

Frame and Dimensions

Room to roam

Both Nissan SUVs have their own unique perks, with sizing to suit different driving needs.

Pathfinder is the second largest vehicle in our lineup. It has plenty of room for everyone to stretch out, with a longer wheelbase and higher ground clearance than our Murano crossover. It’s the perfect step between mid-size and full-size SUV.

Armada is our largest vehicle. If you need an even higher ground clearance, and an ultra-roomy interior cabin, this is the Nissan SUV for you.

Cargo Space and Seating Capacity

Packed with possibilities

Looking for a 7-seater SUV? Pathfinder Platinum comes standard with second-row captain’s chairs. Other Pathfinder models include a bench seat for crews of eight. Armada also offers captain’s chairs or a bench seat, with extra space and luxurious materials to make everyone feel like a VIP.

Pack in everything from groceries, to furniture, to tents and recreational equipment. With configurable seating, Pathfinder lets you access up to 2,279 litres of cargo space, while Armada offers up to 2,701.8 litres.[[2024]]

Crossovers vs. SUVs

What’s the difference?

Crossovers and SUVs are both utility vehicles, but there’s one big difference between them: crossovers are built on a car chassis, while SUVs have the chassis of a truck. That allows for a range of sizes and capabilities to suit different lifestyles. Consider things like size, seating, towing and fuel economy when choosing your own.

Size, storage and seating

Because they’re built on a car chassis, crossovers are more compact or mid-sized and usually seat up to five. By contrast, SUVs are on the larger side, thanks to their truck chassis. They provide more room for cargo and sizeable crews – up to seven or eight.

Towing and capability

Compact crossovers can fit plenty of gear with generous trunk space and flexible seating. If you’re looking to tow something, you’ll want a mid-size crossover or full-size SUV. While all three sizes offer all-wheel drive, off-road adventurers should consider a larger utility vehicle.

Power and fuel economy

Looking to spend less on gas without sacrificing adventure? Compact crossovers focus more on versatility and fuel economy. As you go up in size, crossovers and SUVs deliver extra horsepower for drivers who need to tow more – or take on tougher terrain.

Engine, Horsepower and Transmission

Muscle on demand

If power is what you’re after, Murano offers the most in our crossover lineup. Its 3.5L V6 engine generates up to 260 horsepower.

Next in line, Rogue’s 1.5L VC-Turbo engine adapts to you, churning out up to 201 horsepower, and sipping gas while you coast. If that’s more than you need, Qashqai’s 2.0L engine also packs a punch.[[1804]]

KICKS is our most compact and fuel efficient option, but its 1.6L engine still has plenty of pickup. Paired with our Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission), it seamlessly shifts between power and efficiency.
